I am not a fan of worship music. It’s too cheesy at times. And sometimes “too much of a business” – so I steer clear… but every now and then there is a band that brings something new. The words are fresh. The musical style is different. The heart feels right.
Rend Collective are just that. This song is pretty cool. (looks like they had some cheesy fun putting it together. Ironically, this cheese i accepted…)
Came across this in an email that i received from Gerard Kelly:
Deeper still in the embrace of grace…
“Inscribed on the very heart of God’s grace is the rule that we can be its recipients only if we do not resist being made into its agents; what happens to us must be done by us. Having been embraced by God, we must make space for others in ourselves and invite them in – even our enemies.”
Miroslav Volf, Exclusion and Embrace, 1996
I really like that. What do you think?
To be honest – in many ways, I believe the Methodist Church can be outdated at times. However, it’s founder John Wesley is a legend. He had some pertinent things to say. Check out this GREAT POST
I copied and pasted some of them here (for the lazy who don’t click on links):
‘The world is my parish.’
Avoid narrow self-interest and promote a world view.
‘Beware of that common, but accursed, way of making children parrots … Regard not how much, but how well, to what good purpose, they read … The end of education … [is to] help us discover every false judgement of our minds, and to subdue every wrong passion in our hearts … [and] to understand as much as we are able .’
Offer the best possible education.
‘Wickedly, devilishly false is that common objection, they are poor only because they are idle … Find them work … They will then earn and eat their own bread.’
Seek to ensure full employment.
‘Though we cannot think alike, may we not love alike? May we not be of one heart, though we are not of one opinion?’
Have a good week ahead! 🙂
