What generosity looks like…

Kloof-20131115-00827

For Christmas, we have asked people from our church and community to donate a few items:
Sweets, blankets, crayons and a workbook.
These will be put into gift bags and given to children who don’t have much at all.

For me, doing this sort of service with my youth is far more productive.
For sure, if they want to run around and play silly games and chase after each other (teenage hormones):
There are plenty of other youth groups for that…

I like that this simple act of kindness and social concern
Is building a deep and profound thought pattern within them.

We live in an “out of sync” country.
The rich have far too much
The poor have far too little

If I can encourage teens to think beyond themselves
Then I will be more than happy.

If anyone ever wanted a tattoo of a certain scripture (or life motto) then:
Leviticus 19:9
… is what they should get…

“When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. 10 Do not go over your vineyard a second time or pick up the grapes that have fallen. Leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the Lord your God.” (vs 9/10)
