Song of the week 28 (Funeral for a Friend – All Hands On Deck Part 2: Open Water)

Ah its been really cool over the last few days delving back into this album by Funeral for a Friend: Tales don’t tell themselves

(This link explains the concept of the album too)

I love the concept of the album and the “longing” in front man’s Matthew Davies-Kreye voice in this song.

The song comes in two parts.  I have only shared lyrics for the second part.

I like the first part too… but for this week’s “song of the week” i refer to part two: 3:33mins.

For me its a hopeful song.  Part two of the song starts at

We are still alive out here.  What a line!

Funeral for a Friend – All Hands On Deck Part 2: Open Water

Awake, I am awake,
and I’m still alive out here,
awake, I am awake
and I’m still alive out here,
blinded, by this light,
it is all that surrounds me.

Deep water, I can smell the blood,
how long, how long before they come,
showing teeth, bearing fever, lost in open water,
until they find, finds us all, lost with all the shipwreck.

Deep water, I can smell the blood,
how long, how long before they come.
Waves crashed upon the shore, and time and time again,
we lost control. Am I too far gone to be saved,
lost in the water all alone, am I too far gone to be saved.
Lost in the water all alone, am I too far gone, too far gone to be saved.

Waves crashed upon the shore, and time and time again,
we lost control.
Waves crashed upon the shore, and time and time again, we lost control,
and I lost control.
