Go Bafana Bafana

Pity about SA losing the cricket on Friday against NZ.
And it’s a pity The Sharks lost yesterday against The Crusaders.

But all is not lost… well done to Bafana Bafana for beating Egypt on Saturday for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier.

The goal by Mphela in the 93rd minute. (And it was a pretty cool goal too)

But what was awesome to see was the joy and celebration of the South Africans. Woohoo! They just looked genuinely so stoked and happy and thrilled to have qualified. Just the joy and seeing everyone hugging and congratulating each other makes me proud and smile.
It just reminded me of “loving the game” again.

Sometime the big money in the bigger clubs of soccer tend to bring in another dynamic and the game doesn’t always seemed to be played for the love of it… but for the pay cheque.
(but that’s a whole other conversation…)

PS. You gotta love the commentator on the video clip shouting: “NATAGORA” (however you spell that?)

I feel proudly South African today. 🙂
